Beauty Solutions is a wholesale distributor of professional salon products to licensed beauty salons and hair stylists in California, Nevada and Arizona. Beauty Solutions represent the best of a fresh new breed of boutique, upscale brands, including KEVIN MURPHY, ALFAPARF, PRIVÉ, HOT HEADS extensions, Trissola Smoothing Treatments and more.

With a growing sales force of dozens of sales consultants, over 16,000 salon owners and stylists as customers in three densely populated states and a catalog of thousands of ever-changing products (SKUs), Beauty Solutions had to find a way to put all things in order.

The company made a couple of attempts to improve its business efficiency: they started to use NetSuite as their ERP, and were looking for a mobile solution that would work well with Netsuite. The first solution they tried failed to truly integrate with NetSuite and provide full functionality offline.

Beauty Solutions needed a mobility solution to complement NetSuite, and they needed it fast.

Then came Pepperi.

 

Challenges

  • Salon owners’ and stylists’ time is precious. Order-taking from them has to be super-fast and efficient. An ever-changing catalog with thousands of SKUs makes things even more complicated.
  • Inventory levels, while updated in the NetSuite ERP, must be visible to the rep when she takes an order. After the order was taken, inventory levels in NetSuite must be updated.
  • Each sales rep needs to manage a large number of small customers, constantly changing address, means of payment and license status. Available in the ERP, all the data must be readily accessible to the sales consultant in the field, in front of the customer.
  • Sales reps need to charge their customers in the field, and make sure the payment went through.

 

Solution

  • Sales reps have full customer information, on hand, synced to their device whenever they are online
  • An online catalog, including inventory levels, is automatically synced so it is kept up-to-date
  • Promotions, discounts, new items and price changes are all automatically updated in the catalog by the managers
  • The Pepperi app provides full offline functionality with a native app
  • Orders are automatically sent for payment validation and fulfillment

 

Results

  • When in front of the customer, reps are able to use e-catalog filter, search and replenish capabilities to find products and order fast. With full inventory information at their fingertips, reps are able to complete the order and it is automatically sent to NetSuite for fulfillment.
  • In the beauty industry, it’s all about how things look. Stylist are finding it easy to order when they have photos of the products in front of them. Salon owners can see merchandising materials such as posters and decide what will work for them.
  • Sales reps have all the information about the customer in-front of them: previous purchases, account balance, license information and payment options. They can complete the sale in front of the customer, without having to call the office or work on the order at home
  • Up-sell, cross-sell and other campaigns are presented to the customer during the ordering process, and customers are buying more.
  • With 50% less phone calls from the sales consultants, Beauty Solutions support center can focus on calls from customers. Hiring new sales reps will not add a significant burden to the support center.
